REVIEW: The Roasters Lechon Baka (Pardo)

There are so many places I want to review, but I just haven’t had the time to sit down and write. Lately, I’ve been busy with my running and updating my 8-week, 5K Training almost every day after each run.

Anyway, my husband and I visited The Roasters on a Sunday morning after one of my runs. I WAS HUNGRY!

The Place: 6/10
It’s an outdoor setup, which was okay. However, the tables weren’t that clean (a bit dusty), but I guess that’s expected for this kind of setting.

The Service: 6/10
One of my biggest pet peeves is when a restaurant sets an opening time but doesn’t deliver. (Looking at you, Samgyup 31! Review coming soon!)
For The Roasters, they were technically open when we arrived at around 10:30 AM, but the rice wasn’t cooked yet. They ended up buying puso from another place just so we could eat. Honestly, the 5 stars are mainly for the kuya who went out of his way to get that puso for us. Thank you, kuya!

The Food: 7/10
At Php 310 per serving (good for 2-3 people), hats off to whoever came up with their rub recipe. IT IS YUMMMEEHHH!
The dips were good! There were three: sweet soy sauce (chef's kiss!), vinegar, and gravy. The soy sauce was free, but we had to pay Php 10 for the other two.
The gravy was cold. It was weird dipping hot lechon baka into it.
Our first order was a solid 10/10. But the second? Super overcooked. So tough that I struggled to chew it. Despite that, the flavor was so good that my husband and I just kept eating anyway.

My KYOT-KYOT!!!

Thanks for reading! 'Till next blog! 💛

Review: Seargao Seaview Cafe

Yesterday, my husband and I went to short drive to Argao for the christening of Amor and Ian’s adorable daughter, Pau-pau. Ian is one of my husband’s closest friends from college, and every time they reconnect, it’s like watching him light up with memories and joy. I always enjoy these moments when he gets to reminisce about his past, it’s like seeing a different side of him, full of youthful energy. Also, it doesn't hurt that Amor and Ian’s girls were beyond adorable. Aberdeen, their older daughter, was glued to her phone. I honestly couldn’t stop smiling at how seriously she was into it. Oh, and the food? DELISH. Filipino parties always know how to hit the spot.

Fast forward to the drive home, and we were both feeling the post-lunch sleepies so we needed a caffeine fix ASAP. Enter Seargao Seaview Café, a total accidental discovery that turned into a highlight of our day. We rolled in expecting a quick coffee, but wow, did we luck out!  Surrounded by lush trees and overlooking the sea, it was exactly what we needed for a quick break. We chose to sit outside, close to nature, where the soft breeze and the scent of the ocean and leaves made the experience even more peaceful. It was total zen vibes.

Here’s my review:

The Place: 10/10
Green, clean, and silent. What more could you want?

The Service: 10/10
The waiter deserves an award. I casually mentioned I was parched, and the dude brought me an entire pitcher of water. Like, yes please! Talk about above-and-beyond service.

The Drinks: 10/10
We had Mango Graham Shake, Iced Tea, and Caramel Macchiato that had a surprise touch of cinnamon (which I looovee on coffee). All were delish. I may or may not have been eyeing their food menu, and trust me, we are coming back for that!

Here are our pics (warning, there's a lot!)

So what started as a quick trip for a christening turned into a day full of adorable kiddos, amazing food, and a new favorite café by the sea. It’s days like this that remind me how much fun it is to just go with the flow and that coffee by the ocean with the hubs is the best kind of reset.

'Til next blog! 💛

REVIEW: 21 Kilometers Coffee and Tatang's Extra Crispy Boneless Lechon

Yesterday, my husband and I took a one-hour drive to 21 Kilometres Coffee after work, around 8 AM. It was a very relaxing drive, cruising at just 30-50 km/hr, which was exactly what I needed after a hectic week. Thanks to my wonderful husband for making it happen! Here's my review of the place:

The Place: 7/10
The chairs were a bit uncomfortable. Since it was raining, we were seated at the tables with a better view, but to order again, you have to go to the counter, which requires walking through an uncovered area, so you get wet. We would've ordered more food if not for this. Also, the restroom wasn’t cleaned, probably because it was too early.

The Service: 10/10
Everyone was super nice. I took a picture of my husband at the counter, which might have made the staff uncomfortable. My apologies—the photo only shows their foreheads.

The Food: 10/10
We ordered three items, and they were all delicious. The French toast was incredibly soft, with runny syrup and a touch of cinnamon. The bacon was salty, just how we like it.

Banana Pancake with Bacon - Php 140

The place

Our ride! I love our motorcycle rides!

French Toast Panini with Bacon, Egg, and Side Salad - Php 140

Twinning with the hubby! I love my green socks.

The greenery!

Blocking the view with our faces! 🤣

Afterward, we had late lunch at Tatang's Extra Crispy Boneless Lechon.

The Place: 6/10
It could use more lighting. I love bright places, though others might prefer it dimmer.

The Service: 8/10
A little smile goes a long way. :)

The Food: 10/10
It was incredibly crispy, tender, and perfectly salty! The vinegar was a perfect 10/10. We’ll definitely be back, but maybe for takeout.

Two posts in 2 days?  Wow! I just happened to have my laptop in the car while my husband and I are hanging out at Shell Robinsons (see my review of the place here). While he’s editing his videos for social media, I’m working on my blog.

Alright! Happy Sunday! 💛
